EVERYONE struggles with choosing glasses. We often hear our customers say 'glasses don't suit my face', but we wholeheartedly disagree. Perspective Eyewear has the colour, style and shape to suit your individual face. If you're unsure about how to pick the right fit and style, check out our simple tips and tricks to help you choose.
Face Shape - Heart, Round, Square, Oval, Diamond?
It is helpful to work out what face shape you have because different glasses suit different face shapes. Pull away any hair you have on your face and look into a mirror to determine which shape your face most closely matches.
- Oval - Considered the most 'ideal' face shape due to its balanced proportions, most glasses will suit this face shape. Look for glasses that are wide or wider than the broadest part of the face.
- Heart - Wide forehead and narrow chin. Glasses that are wider towards the bottom in thin, light materials (check out our titanium range) are a good choice for Heart shaped faces.
- Square - strong jaw, broad forehead, and roughly equal length/width proportions. Soften the angles with narrow frame styles.
- Diamond - Narrow at the forehead and jawline, with broad/high cheekbones. Try frames that have detailing or distinctive brow lines., rimless glasses and oval or cat-eye shapes.
- Round - width/length proportions are the same with no sharp angles. Narrow glasses will help to lengthen the face. Frames with a clear bridge and rectangular shapes can also be flattering.
Nose pads or not?
When deciding whether to choose frames with or without nose pads, it is important to understand that we all have different nose bridges. We recommend nose pads for those that have a flatter nose bridge and for those who want to ensure minimal slippage and extra support.
The nose pads of your glasses should sit comfortably on either side of your nose so that when you move your head around, your glasses stay put without slipping. They also shouldn't dig into your nose - if that happens, your nose pads just need a bit of adjustment. Just push or pull the nose pads gently as needed
Choosing colours
Colour choices can be determined by factors such as your eyes, skin tone, hair colour and individual preferences.
Generally speaking, if you have a warmer complexion, choose colours like gold, copper, orange, coral, red, tortoise-shell and reds. If you have a cooler complexion, hues such as black, silver, blue, grey, magenta, jade and dark tortoise-shell, can be complementary.
Choosing a style
Choosing a style can be tough. Do you want to stand out from the crowd? Or do you prefer a more subtle look?
Glasses can be a fashion accessory, so if you want to be unique. choose a colour that is bright or unique and a style that is bold and defined. On the flip side, to minimise the appearance of glasses, choose lighter, airy frames in clear, silver or pale colours to blend in with your facial features.
